MEET OUR FOUNDER
Jay Urich, M.Ed.
Jay Urich, founder of Banner Player Development, is a former football student-athlete at the University of South Carolina with a passion for empowering young student-athletes to thrive beyond sports. After experiencing firsthand the challenges of balancing athletics, academics, and life, Jay recognized the need for a program that prepared players not only for competition but also for life after their playing days.
With a heart for mentorship and leadership, he created Banner to equip high school athletes with the tools to build character, develop core competencies, and discover their purpose outside of the game. Jay’s mission is to inspire the next generation to live with confidence, integrity, and discipline both on and off the field.
THE ‘WHY’ BEHIND BANNER
Player Development used to be just for college athletes. Big-time SEC, ACC, and Big 10 athletic departments and their sports teams are equipped with multiple full-time staff members and superb programming to help their college athletes excel in their sport and beyond.
I am someone who has benefited from this expertise in my time playing football at The University of South Carolina. These skills that I have learned have changed my life and launched me into life after sport with confidence and hope!
After graduation I started to think about how those same lessons that I learned are needed for not only college athletes but also for high-performing high school athletes who are managing similar stresses and challenges.
Banner Player Development is the combination of my 6 years of experience in the student-athlete development space at the highest level of college athletics + insights and coaching from other athletic & player development experts who have 20+ years of experience. With my experience and these industry experts, we have come together to help high school athletes thrive beyond sports.
